Mobile Security – Tips for Frequent Travelers

Do you have to go for a business tour quite often? If so, you must have to clear the security procedure at the airport. You always eager to get through the security lines with little stress and greater ease.

No matter how perfect the security procedure is, you need to remove each and every device like tablet, smartphone or laptop from the bag to scan them.

The chaotic situation of security lines and the attempt to maintain the schedule might lead to the loss of any of the devices. Now, losing your smartphone or any other mobile device, ultimately results in interruption in your job and loss of precious value.

More than that, what cost you the most is the loss of company information which the device may contain. Third party access to such information can be a real threat.

So, take a look at the security tips to securely maintain your mobile device.

Security Guidelines for Regular Travelers

Be careful of what you are storing locally: Accessing files through VPN account without storing them on the device is secure. Cloud technology is also an effective way of accessing files without saving them on your PC system. The only thing you have to ensure is your system is not automatically handed to some other individual.

Keeping the hardware protected: Make sure that you never keep your mobile out of sight. Keeping the device insight is a good way of securing all your data in the device. No matter where you are, always keep your device at a safe place.

Using encryption: Login passwords and encryption are the two very essential tools for your mobile device which stores all your company and work-related info. The mobile should not be opened easily. The password should be complex containing a combination of special characters, numbers and letters.

Considering the consequences: Say your mobile gets stolen and the sensitive information like credit card details, social security number and so on, are compromised, what will you do? You must deliver letters to the individuals who are affected by this act for notifying them about this breaching. It is for the goodwill of your business. You know certain businesses even promise the affected individuals to make payments of annual protection against identity theft!

No covering up when your device is lost or stolen: Who should you held responsible, if the sensitive information is stolen and the right measures are not adopted? Obviously, the CIO or the business owner. In the first place, you should file a report with the police and notify the respective authorities, in case your device is stolen. Secondly, contact the other business professionals in your own company for changing the password which may be applied to your device.

These are some of the steps you can take to ensure safety and security of your mobile device but it is never possible to completely safeguard your device from being stolen. Can you? All these vital information can only keep your safe and protected at times of stress.
