Remember Your Favourite Online Places When It Comes To Learning How To Secure Your Web Site

There is a good chance that if you have a website then you probably go around the web to look at or use other websites. No-one spends all of their time on the web in one place. If you did then you would be losing out on what is most fun about the web. But the thing that you probably do not realize is how much you can learn from the other websites on the web. This is especially true when it comes to the big websites that you will encounter. They have more experience than anyone when it comes to the problems and the trials of security on the web.

The big websites of the internet have security problems all of the time. That is because they have people around the world trying to attack them 24 hours a day. So they have to be good to make sure that the users on their site are protected. To make sure that they are good, they hire the best people around to be able to help them secure the site. When you are going against the best black hat hackers in the world then you need white hat hackers who are at least pretty good at what they do. When you are dealing with a top level site then you are in the big leagues and this is not a time for amateurs to try and see what they can do.

But one thing that is great about having the big time people guarding the websites of the big players on the internet is that they give many interviews. They will give interviews about the tools they use and the mentality that they have to be able to get the job done. There are some places which will give a layout of what they need to do to keep themselves safe. They may not give you every piece of the puzzle but they give out enough for it to be helpful when it comes to you and your website. Now all you have to do is take the ball and run with it.

It is not just enough for you to read about the big boys and what they do to preserve the integrity of their websites. You must try to implement the moves yourself. Some of the moves that these big boys make may be right and some may be wrong for a website of your size. That is ok. It is up to you to try and see what will work for you. Sometimes you cannot afford the moves that they have made and other times it is just not practical and basically useless for the type of website that you run. You are just supposed to learn from the website and not try to copy them step by step.

You can also take what you read in these interviews and change it up by using your imagination. You might even be able to pull off something better than what the pros are able to do.

The main thing that you have to remember when you are reading some of these interviews is that the number one priority you should have to you and your users is to keep the site safe. And that means doing whatever you can to accomplish that goal. Even if it means some extra downtime reading on your part.

A very good informative article. You are right in saying that the steps taken by the larger companies to protect their website might not be effective or safe for a small site.
