People often complain that their computer has been virus infected inspite of having best premium regularly updated Antivirus software. And they search for another Antivirus which can provided them a better security than the one they have in their system. But have you ever thought “Why inspite of having best premium regularly updated Antivirus software, your system get infected with virus?” You might be having best premium regularly updated Antivirus software but remember that every antivirus have their strength and weakness and developers continuous keep updating their antivirus to detect the latest virus spread across the web.

It also depend on the user how they use their computer.

Some people use their computer very occasionally. They visit low risk website/ webpage, ever open emails from only people they know. And their PC is complete virus free, without using any Antivirus software. But I highly recommend them to use some good antivirus and enjoy the world.

    Like you said, it really depends on how we use our computer. If we take the necessary precautions, we could reduce the risk of being infected by viruses. I’m using Avast at the moment but never really got the chance to use it to remove any virus from my system. Either my system is really clean or a virus might be already inside my system but Avast is not able to detect it. I sure hope it’s not the latter :P

    My vote goes to bit defender. But if you ask me then I give more priority to microsoft security essential. thats really great.

    For me, the Avast Home Antivirus Protection Tool is superior to any other antivirus protection tool that I have used previous to now, free or otherwise. I have used “Avast” for at least the past two years. I can’t remember ever having a problem with any part of the program. I especially appreciate the fact that the program automatically updates itself and otherwise is user friendly. I sincerely applaud you Avast! Thank you.

    I uninstalled avast! from my computer but the icon and other componets cannot be removed. What Can I do now to uninstall completely?

    If you are using Windows, I think Microsoft Security Essentials is the best FREE antivirus for your PC.

    Any anti-virus program is only as good as it’s definitions (library) and it’s abilty not to bog down your pc. For excellent protection AVG, malwarebytes and Avast are excellent and free. Antivirus is wearing a condom on the internet. No anti virus program is perfect. You need to use other forms of prtection such as a firewall and a spyware detector.

    The definitions are the difference, The more patterns a AV program can detect the better the coverage. A bigger library isn’t always better if they don’t have the latest books.

    BitDefender Antivirus is my favourite for this year for many reasons, the most noteworthy of which is it’s extremely high detection rate.

    If you want a free AV then, like others, I’d definitely say to check out Avast!

    Antivirus is the basic requirement of Laptop and Pc.These days its market has reached new heights and in past some year i fine BitDefender Antivirus best because of its unique features…and good anti virus capacity.It protect your computer without any damage to files..

    Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 is best. Web shows ratings are exceptional for Bit defender, so will try it when kaspersky crashes. I’m using kaspersky for more than 2 years now and it works wonderful for me. AVG is free, good for those who doesnt have brains cracking the antivirus . AVG screwed my system many times by deleting windows directory file.

    Karpersky deletes files n replicates copies of the same file after clean up. But proved fatile once.

    What I recommend TO ALL USERS :

    1)Have Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012y.
    2)Keep antivirus upto date so new virus definitions received.
    3) Also, install SPYBOT(free) or spyware doctor.

    Whenever you visit bad sites or insert Pen drive. make sure that you first start (antivirus-ALL) n scan it thoroughly by couple of antiviruses. If one doesn’t work other will detect virus. After that you can shutdown other antivirus or antispyware.

    What I do? I’ve karpersky. Also, spybot, spyware doctor and quick heal

    Before, I insert pen drive into PC, I enable/start all these. Once, the scanning is done, I shutdown the not so inportant antiviruses.

    The other not so important antivirus/antispyware does not start since I’ve removed them from system startup. Here’s how -> start -> select run command -> type MSCONFIG – > you would find entries related to software which you dnt need all the time -> uncheck those entries -> save and restart.

    You will also find many other entries like yahoo messenger or google talk which you dont want starting up automatically with system start and take up memory. You can also uncheck them.

    Thanks…. Sometime i feel these company who develop antivirus are also involved in creating these viruses. No virus no antivirus. No business.

    Nice Article …. i do agree with the list of top 5 antivirus softwares that you have mentioned, Personally i like the cloud based panda and love its way of functioning, i would also suggest you to try McAfee too , its easy to use and provides lots of features too. kudos and all the best for the competition Amit, your post is the best that i have read so far. and finally i love the imagery (that you have highlighted in red in your post) and metaphor you have used to express the importance of the anti-virus softwares. thumbs up for the creative writing style that you possess :-) .     Thanks Amit for sharing this… I really use to be surprised too how many people complained of still having virus on their system even when they are using premium Anti-virus… But your article just answered the question on my mind… We really have to take care of our computers even after installing the best anti-virus… I make use of Microsoft Essentials though….
