Next month, on the 6th, is the 1 year anniversary of IT Security Column and I would like to take this opportunity to hold an event as part of the celebration. I know that one year is really nothing to most bloggers but still, to a newbie, it is something worth to celebrate.
No! It is not a Giveaway!
From most websites, whenever you see an event, it is mostly going to be a giveaway but not for this time. I want to the guest writers of this blog to be rewarded as well along with the readers.
This is because I can see whatever happened to this blog today, at least 30% are contributed from my awesome guest bloggers and hence, I want to appreciate their work by running a small competition for them.
How it works?
Anyone who has a guest article published for this blog from the 6th of March 2012 until the 15th of April 2012 will be eligible to join the contest. All I need from you is to submit your article to me latest on the 15th of March 2012 to alan@itscolumn.com.
If you are not too sure what to write, how long your article should be, or what are the formats, just refer to my Guest Post Guideline. You will still enjoy the benefit of backlink from this blog on top of the prize that you are going to win. Sounds pretty cool eh?

How winners are picked?
Winners will be picked based on:
- How much my readers love your content. (Comments and traffic will be taken into consideration)
- How much the social media love your content. (The number of Tweets, Likes, Digg, and +1)
- How much Google loves your content. (Number of keywords and organic users which can find your content from Google)
- How much the Contest Sponsors love your content.
So the tips for a better winning chance, is to keep sharing, liking, tweeting, digging and +1-ing.
What you will win?
At the moment, I am still looking for Sponsors for this event where I will be expecting some computer software for home users will be given away. Meanwhile, I will be taking out $100 USD from my own pocket as part of the prize. This means, the winner of this competition will at least walk away with $100 USD cash which will be paid via Paypal. Official prizes will be announced on the Official Opening
.
What about my readers?
My readers will not be forgotten here because you are the one who gave me the traffic which I have today. I will be running a separate contest for you to perhaps vote for the article and win some prize which I will only announce at the end of the competition. So, stay tuned!
Want to be part of the sponsors?
Currently, I am still looking for sponsors where I manually email those potential sponsors. However, if you are looking forward to sponsor this contest, just send me an email at alan@itscolumn.com. If you don’t have a suitable product to sponsor but would like to gain some exposure over here, I do accept cash sponsor as well. But why sponsor the contest? Here are the reasons:
- Every published article published guest post for this competition will include your logo and URL to your desired web page at the end of the article. Look below for an example.
- Articles will be heavily shared across social networks where page views for these guest articles will be pretty high.
- Your company name and the prize you sponsor will be mentioned in the Official Opening and Closing of this competition.
An official announcement will be made to officially kick-off this competition on the 6th of March 2012 but you can start sending your article as it will take some time to get it approved.
