PC Fix 2011 Review

PC Fix 2011 from Dubai Click is a Registry Cleaner where it not only cleans your Windows Registry, but also optimizes your computer performance. The version that I am going to review today is the 3.0.6 where it was released in 14 June 2011. I had been using this software for about a week and these are what I find from it.

First impression

PC Fix has a small sized installer where you get it downloaded in less than 2 minutes with today’s internet connection speed. The installation is fast as well probably due to the installer size is small.

As I launch the product, it asks for the UAC permission and it pretty much make sense here because we are dealing with Windows registry here. So I entered my password and the program is launched successfully. PC Fix is not any sophisticated application, so below is the main screen of the program and pretty much, everything about PC Fix as well.

pc fix main

On your left, you have the menu and statistic. On your top right, you have the menu to get support from PC Fix and your bottom right will see the ‘NEW PC SCAN’ button clearly where it means, to perform a scan.

Overall, I find the program is quite easy to use. The navigation is pretty straight forward and I can find the things I want easily. The features that I expect from a Registry Cleaner are also there and on the usability and navigation of this product, I would say it is good.

Two things I don’t really like about this software so far. The first one is there is no “Select/Deselect All” checkbox on the main screen. Let me tell you why you need to have that. By default, it comes with all checked where in full scan mode, that is completely perfect. But what if I just want to select one option? I need to click 11 times to uncheck all the checkboxes. That is painful where if you have the ‘deselect all’ option, I just need to click once to deselect, and once to select the option I want.

The other thing which I don’t like about this main interface is the advertisement. First, I need to clarify that this is paid software. Usually, people do not expect advertisements when you bought over the thing. When I see the advertisement, my impression to this software is “It is a free software, but with excellent features”.

Features review

These are the features which are stated in their product page where I think I should go through the features and review them.

1. Registry Scan

One of the features of PC Fix 2011 is that it has Registry Scan where I think it is a mandatory feature for registry cleaner software. One thing good about the scan is that you can customize the scan. However, it is pretty pointless to me because the full scan does not take any longer than 2 minutes for me to do so. As a result, a customized one is not really necessary unless I need 10 minutes for a full system scan one day.

2. Registry Fix

I had use one of the free registry cleaner called Eusing Registry Cleaner. That product is totally free but it does nothing when it comes to cleaning. Immediately after I complete the cleaning, I quickly run another scan and all the errors are back again. However, for PC Fix 2011, I see different result. Below is the comparison of my first scan and my second scan after I completed the registry fix.

pc fix comparison

Isn’t this looks more convincing? Although I did not get a perfect result, but there is improvement and I only left few empty registry to clean up which I think it is not going to give me any hard time.

3. Scheduler

You get to schedule your scan so that you will not forget to scan your registry. However, the longest duration you can set is only weekly. Which means that you can’t really set to scan on a monthly basis as stated in my security eBook. However, due to the scan speed is extremely fast, I don’t think it is going to be an issue to scan on a weekly basis.

4. Backup

The backup feature is amazing. At first, I was looking for the backup feature because I don’t want to attempt a scan without backing up my registry. I couldn’t find the button that can enable me to backup. As a result, I went back to the site and realize that this software actually runs an automated backup. This means that it is going to backup your registry automatically during or after your scan and you don’t have to worry that you will forget to backup.

5. Manage Startup

You can use PC Fix to manage your startup application and don’t have to go to MSConfig to do so. However, the item list in the PC Fix startup seems to be a light version of the actual start up list. As a result, you will not get to manage all the startup application from PC Fix alone although managing from this software is better as it cleans the registry instead of just changing settings from MSConfig.

6. Advanced Repair

If you have a critical issue that needs an attention from the software vendor, you can subscribe to their support service and send them your issue where they will have an engineer to look into your issue seriously. Sending them your problem is pretty easy. All you need is just to hit on the Advanced Repair button and enter your name, email and some description. Your scan log will be automatically attached when you send the support issue to the software vendor.

Pros and cons of PC Fix 2011

The Pros

  • Light, fast and easy to use. The entire design is pretty self-explanatory.
  • Registry cleaning is fast and efficient.
  • Backup is automated. Zero risk on forgetting to backup.
  • It has a scheduler to automate the scan based on your preferred schedule.

The Cons

  • There is advertisement despite it is a paid program.
  • Customizing a scan is difficult without an option to uncheck all.
  • Startup application list in the software is lesser than the actual list.
  • Damage level is measured by the number of errors, not the quality of errors.

Installation – 5.0/5.0

No problem with downloading the files and installing. The installation process is fast as well which makes this section flawless.

Support – 4.0/5.0

The good thing is the support will be responded in 24 hours, but through email. If phone support is provided as well, the support section can be brilliant.

Usability – 4.0/5.0

It is easy to use and the design is neat. Advertisement should be removed and when it comes to more than 10 checkbox, an option to uncheck/check all is really necessary.

Effectiveness – 4.5/5.0

Bad thing is it cannot be cleaned entirely. I was stuck with 4 empty registries that unable to clean all the time. However, all the critical issues are fixed and I can see the effectiveness of this software.

Overall – 4.5/5.0

PC Fix 2011 deserved at least a 4.5 score out of 5.0. There isn’t any major issue that I can see from this software. If there is another Registry Cleaner that can beat this product, it is going to be that product has more features over PC Fix.

My Verdict

The price of $29.95 for a single user license is quite a standard price for the Registry Cleaner market and best of all, it is licensed for life. If you are looking for a good Registry Cleaner without any other special features, PC Fix 2011 can be your reliable Registry Cleaner.
