Free Antivirus for Android is Not Even Close to Reliable

In the recent Android antivirus test performed by AV Test, results are not very positive gathered from seven free antivirus software for Android. This results have concluded that the free antivirus for mobile is not up to the standard where we can even say ‘secure’.

10 malware samples were used and disappointingly, four of the seven antivirus completely failed the test. The failure was so complete in the way that out those samples, the antivirus detected ZERO infection. If you are using any of these four antivirus, I would suggest you to make an immediate. The four awesome antivirus vendors which I mentioned here are Antivirus Free of Creative Apps, GuardX Antivirus of Qstar, LabMSF Antivirus beta of LabMSF and Privateer Lite of Online Vault.

BluePoint Antivirus Free of BluePoint Security has a 1% detection rate and Kinetoo Malware Scan of CPU Media SARL has a 6% malware detection rate. Out of all the free antivirus that had been tested, Zoner Antivirus Free of ZONER topped the test but with a poor result of 32% rate of detection.

The circulation of obviously near to useless security apps endangers those, who trust them and install apps from 3rd party app markets without further suspiciousness.

– AV Test

It is pretty sad to see that the free antivirus for mobile devices is not performing as well as most of the free antivirus for desktop. Like what had been said in the AV Test said in its report, those free antivirus are completely useless and it is as good as you don’t install any antivirus at all

On the other side for those commercial mobile antivirus especially Kaspersky Mobile Security who scored 100% in the same test to show the effectiveness of commercial antivirus over free antivirus on the mobile platform. Malware for Android is getting more today and I believe if you are a smartphone user especially Android, you should get a commercial antivirus.

Agreed. The antivirus for mobile devices is a new territory and the companies concerned will have to improve their performance if they want to have a significant market development.

Thanks! With the increase of Android usage, it’s importante to come out with these warnings. People think they will be protected with a free antivirus, so they choose to install it for economic reasons, however they may be in for an unpleasant surprise.
