Microsoft was never out from the Kaspersky Top 10 vulnerabilities report but not anymore after the hard work of patching the Windows Operating System. It is the very first time as well where the top 10 vulnerabilities only consists of two products which are Oracle (Java) and Adobe Flash Player. Out of the 10 vulnerabilities, Adobe Flash Player swipe eight of them leaving only two vulnerabilities from Oracle (Java).
As for Microsoft, it had moved off from the list is simply because of the improvements made in the automatic Windows update mechanism. It is also reported that the proportion of Windows Vista and Windows 7 users had grown which indirectly make their computer more secure compared to Windows XP and before.
If you look at the first two impact properly, nine out of the top 10 vulnerabilities gave the attacker a full system access to the victim’s machine. Four of them gets the exposure of sensitive information such as username, password, and credit card information. The top 10 vulnerabilities study here taught us something is that how serious it is if our computer is affected with the vulnerabilities.
We should all know by now the importance for a Windows user to enable the Automatic Update and Install Update feature to gain a better security. Apart from that, we should also pay attention and frequently run an update on Adobe Flash Player or Oracle (Java) if they are installed in our computer. Last but not least, do ensure that you have a strong and reliable internet security suite installed to give you a maximum protection.
