It is believe that the number of victim of this malware could be a couple of millions. As it is expected to have millions of users affected by this malware, it is not a big surprise if you happened to be one of them. Anyhow, if you have a proper antivirus protection, you should be safe from this. There are some users that might have the thinking that whether this sort of message could further alert a scareware? There is one way to identify which is the solution from Google is not trying to sell anything at all while a scareware will try to sell you something which you does not need. Unless Google plans to dominate the security scene one day but up to now, not a chance. Hence do not panic when you see the warning message and stay calm to analyze the problem and find solutions from there.

How Did Google Find Out?

The Google malware was discovered when they took one of their server offline and discovered that it is still receiving thousands of queries every seconds. The team then diagnose further and successfully identify the proxy servers. Those servers were added into the Google homepage’s script to detect the computers whose queries were coming through those servers and warn the users. Google should be applauded for making such a good move where users were actually doing a light scan on their computer during any Google search.
