Avast antivirus is quite a common free antivirus that home users had been using. Do you know that you can fire up your security by using the Comodo firewall as the first layer of defense. Basically these two products can come as low as zero cost. As mentioned, many home user might still be using a free version of antivirus till especially the Avast antivirus and on the other half, the Comodo firewall can come into their security for another layer of defense to replace some missing piece. I’m not trying to say only the Comodo firewall and Avast antivirus can work together but any of this two can go along with your other security software as well as long as it does not clash in interest. For instance, you will not be able to use Kaspersky antivirus and Avast antivirus together since both of them fall on the same category which is the antivirus. Same goes to Comodo firewall where you can’t use it together with Zone Alarm as their interest clashed. Make sure you know the product well before combining them and for my example this time, I will use the Avast antivirus free edition as the antivirus and Comodo firewall free edition as the firewall.
Why Avast Antivirus or Comodo Firewall Alone is Not Enough?
If you had missed my Avast antivirus review, here is a quick recap. Avast antivirus is a free and light antivirus but the drawback is the lack of feature such as firewall, parental filtering, and many more. One of the alternative here is to upgrade your Avast antivirus, but question is that whether is it worth the money? You can choose to use other paid antivirus out there that can give you all the features that you want but what I want to suggest over here is just to use a free and good firewall which is the Comodo firewall.
Comodo firewall fits in nicely into the missing piece in the Avast antivirus free edition. Comodo firewall has a solid defense although it might take up a little more in your memory. You can learn more about this product in my Comodo Firewall Review. You might face some annoyance when you start using the Comodo firewall but do read on one of my guide on how you can reduce the Comodo firewall pop up. If you plan to use only the Comodo firewall, it might not be sufficient as it is not any antivirus. Hence the Avast antivirus and Comodo firewall comes in with a perfect combination.
Avast Antivirus & Comodo Firewall – My Verdict
As a result, if you are looking to have a good security at a very cheap price or should I say free, you can consider this combination. If you are not sure whether you want this sort of combination or directly purchase a complete internet security suite, do read my post on how to tell whether you need a paid antivirus. As there are not many home users out there who are willing to invest into their security, I’m sure the Avast antivirus and Comodo firewall will fit the needs of all the home user out there.
