As we had just being introduced by the new Mac Malware, many users were infected and this entry is a quick 4 steps to Mac Malware Solution. Before I go in further into the solution for this problem, I would like you all to know that I am not any Mac user or familiar with this Mac Malware. Due to the popularity of this Malware, I did some quick research and post this quick solution for this infection. If you refer to one of my entry for this issue, you will realized that I was talking about MacDefender. However, this Malware already spread to even MACProtector and maybe other Mac Anti-virus or security application. For a more proper and detailed removal, you should refer to any patches that is released by Apple.
This Mac Malware solution will only take a quick 4 steps to complete.
- Open Application > Utilities > Activity Monitor and quit any process that linked to MacDefender or MacProtector or any other suspicious security software.
- Delete MacDefender (or any other suspicious security software) from the Applications folder.
- Check System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items for any other suspicious entries.
- Run a Spotlight search for “MacDefender” (or any other suspicious security software) to check for any associated files that might still be hanging around your system.
Mac Malware Solution – Last But Not Least
As this is a form of attack due to the settings of Safari web browser that checks the configuration to automatically open “safe” files, it is now recommended for the user to turn that settings off. It is also recommended to the user that they should use standard account for normal usage rather than administrator account where it at least can have one layer of permission security before installing anything on the system. Although with all these solutions and suggestions, there isn’t any official complete removal for this threat. I would urge the users whether you are infected or not to follow this issue closely especially in the Apple support forum for this Mac Malware solution.
